Ben Monie

Benjamin Monié was known as Benji through most of elementary school. His middle school classmates thought his parents were lesbians due to his French father's name, René. It also didn't help that many of them referred to Benjamin as "Ben-Gay." Among his lifetime achievements, Ben won the coveted superlative, "Most Likely to Join a Circus," in high school. It was basically "Most Popular," but for less popular people.

Despite the title, Ben matriculated at Boston University, where his freshman roommate swiftly succeeded in burning down their dorm room with just a foil-wrapped burrito and a microwave set to 30 minutes. Certain he carried the weight of the world on his shoulders, Ben traveled through contentious regions in the Middle East in search of the real "Benjamin Monié." It was there he realized that even Ben-Gay had it better than they did. He moved to New York to work as a broadcast news producer, believing this would be his opportunity to tell true-life stories. Instead, he worked on stories that focused on celebrity drinking, many of which may or may not be true.

Eager to make his family proud, Ben quit his semi-high-profile job and dove further in debt to pursue his dream of becoming the next Lucasberg at USC. Little did he know that he'd spend more time in traffic than in class. Now in LA, Ben wants to make films that offer a sense of hope for his hopelessly cynical heart.
